New Touch Screen Technology and New Remote Control
Garmin have created something new by putting an 8-bit colour depth, touch screen into the Street Pilot 2610 and 2650 which means you can navigate all the Street Pilot functions by simply tapping the screen!

Garmin have also introduced a new infrared remote control powered by 2xAAA batteries. Coupled with an infrared panel on the far left of the Street Pilot, if you would prefer to keep the touch screen clean, then you can navigate all features of the Street Pilot by way of remote control.

New Menu System
Garmin have completely re-worked the menu system on the Street Pilot 2610 and 2650, which makes it a lot easier to navigate through the features both by using the touch screen, and also using the supplied remote control. The remote control is great addition to the Street Pilot and makes it's use much easier.

Differences between 2610 and 2650
The main difference between these two models are the 2650 is the big brother that allows for things like Speed Pulse Sensors and Reverse Light Input, so it's not 100% reliant on the GPS technology to gauge where you are. For instance, this extra technology would come in handy for instance if you went into a long tunnel, the 2650 would be able to tell the direction you are traveling in and the speed, and still retain your position on screen for you without the need for the GPS (for a short time). However this is reflected in the price. For most the 2610 will do just fine! One thing that should be said about the 2650 is that it needs to be installed by a Garmin Installation Centre, so you can't just pick one up and put it in the car like with the SPIII Deluxe and the 2610 (where you can).

Differences between Garmin 2610/2620 models
The Street Pilot 2620 is effectively the same model as the 2610. The only difference is that it contains a 2Gb MicroDrive (Hard Disk) and rather than having maps supplied on CD, the maps of Western Europe are pre-installed onto the hard disk, so as soon as you take away the 2620, plug it into the car power source, you are up and running within seconds.

Garmin 2660
The Street Pilot 2660 is a new product and is not currently available at the time of writing this comparison review, but like the 2620 is identical to the 2610 with a pre-loaded hard drive, the 2660 will be identical to the 2650 with dead reckoning and come with a pre-installed hard drive, so you truly can choose the product you want!
