Lake District Maps

The Lake District is categorised as Britain's most wonderful National Parks and a popular holiday location for people who want to get out in the fresh air, go walking or hiking in one of the most beautiful locations in England.

The Lake District National Park is in the North West of England, in the county of Cumbria. It has mountains, moors and woodland as well as lakes and a windswept coastline and contains a huge amount of national beauty.

Snowdonia Maps

Snowdonia is one of the eleven National Parks of England and Wales and is the second largest after the Lake District. Snowdonia covers 823 square miles of the most beautiful and unspoilt countryside in north west Wales. Unlike "wild" National Parks elsewhere in the world, Snowdonia is home to just over 26,000 people, who live and work in it's town and villages, and on it's hill farms.

Snowdonia is a popular holiday location for visitors and sees an estimated 6-10 million visitors a year enjoying a wide range of leisure activities.

Yorkshire Dales Maps

The Yorkshire Dales is an area of great natural beauty in northern England, a large part of which has been designated as one of England and Wales' protected national parks. Much of the landscape here is limestone country with lush green valleys (known locally as "dales") crested with white limestone cliffs ("scars") and limestone pavements cutting through wilder uplands beneath towering peaks ("fells") of dark millstone grit. Throughout the dales, fields and pastures are bounded by distinctive white drystone walls which criss-cross the hillsides in elaborate patterns; set against the limestone cliffs and escarpments these walls .

North York Moors Maps

The North York Moors is a very special place. The great variety of landscapes within a small area is what truly makes it unique and gives it a character which so many people can enjoy. Here you can experience the vast open space of moorland, listen to the call of the upland birds, walk for miles and miles or sit and watch the world go by.

You can wander through woods, saunter through picturesque villages of honey sandstone, throw pebbles in a stream or build sandcastles on the beach. All around are the signs of past generations, historic abbeys, embattled castles, churches, crosses, ancient routes.

Peak District Maps

Situated in the heart of England, the Peak District National Park lies at the southern end of the Pennine hills between Sheffield and Manchester. It was the first National Park to be set up in Britain in 1951 and covers parts of six counties. The Peak District offers a wealth of places to visit. Venture underground and explore fascinating caves, relax besides ancient waterways and reservoirs or indulge your passion for shopping in one of our traditional market towns. All of England's rich tapestry is here, historic houses, industrial heritage, museums, and steam railways.

Northumberland Maps

Northumberland is England's most northerly county, and has coastlines and countryside of outstanding natural beauty together with a rich and colourful history dating back to ancient times.

Northumberland is possibly the most consistently beautiful of all English counties. Other regions may have more dramatic mountains or areas of more gentle and picturesque countryside. But few, if any counties have such large, unspoilt areas of such varying character. And for that sheer sense of space Northumberland is simply unrivalled in England.

New Forest and South Downs Maps

As we enter the New Forest today, we appear to step backwards in time. The landscape is unique and traditions exist here that are unchanged since mediaeval times. The New Forest's ancient woodlands and wilderness heaths remain largely intact, earning the area national and international status. The 161 kilometre long South Downs Way follows the old routes and droveways of ancient man along the chalk escarpment and ridges of the South Downs. The route provides the visitor with the opportunity for short and long walks.

Dartmoor and Exmoor Maps

Dartmoor is a beautiful moorland landscape with wooded valleys and wind swept Tors. 368 square miles (953 sq. km.) in area, with about 33,000 people living in it, and where about 10 million visits are made each year. There are also about 600 miles (966 km) of public rights of way. Dartmoor is a rich habitat for wildlife and has a wealth of archaeological remains.

Exmoor National Park is situated in the counties of Devon and Somerset in South West England; Exeter is 40 km (30 miles) to the south and Taunton 20 km (13 miles) from the eastern boundary.

Cotswolds Maps

The Cotswolds is an area of England about the size of greater Tokyo. Popular with both the English themselves and visitors from all over the world, the Cotswolds are well-known for gentle hillsides (‘wolds'), sleepy villages and for being so ‘typically English'.

There are famous cities such as Bath, well-known beautiful towns like Cheltenham and hundreds of delightful villages such as Burford and Castle Combe. Above all, the local honey-coloured limestone, used for everything from the stone floors in the houses to the tiles on the roof, has ensured that the area has a magical uniformity of architecture.

Brecon Beacons & Pembrokeshire Maps

The Brecon Beacons National Park contains some of the most spectacular and distinctive upland formations in southern Britain. Situated amongst hills and mountains, the Park covers an area of 1347 sq km (520 sq miles). Stretching from Hay on Wye in the east to Llandeilo in the west, it incorporates the Black Mountains, the Central Beacons and Fforest Fawr as well as moorland, forests, valleys, waterfalls, lakes, caves and gorges. Pembrokeshire has stunning coastal scenery, superb beaches and clean seas.
